Uncle Paul recovering nicely

I just got home from the hospital about 11:00pm.  Uncle Paul was doing great when I left.  He was visiting with Kristie (who was trying to fall asleep at the foot of his bed, she'd just finished up with her last surgery about 9:30pm and she was exhausted) and Tommy.

He had been up walking a couple of times, was taking breathing treatments every hour (so he wouldn't get pneumonia), and doing pretty good. 

If all goes well overnight, he should be going home in the morning.

I just talked with Paul and he is in his own room now.  He is doing fine.  He's voice is a little froggy and he said his incision hurts, but otherwise he is doing okay.

BTW... I forgot to mention he is at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Mo.  I should also mention that if you call the hospital, be sure to ask for Clifford McKee.

Hey gang, wanted to send a quick note.

Keep Uncle Paul in your prayers, he is having his gall bladder removed this afternoon (I think).  LOL... he's having some kind of surgery on his gall bladder for sure.

Pray that he has a speedy recovery.  He wears a lot of hats - Undersheriff, chief cook at the McKee household, wrestling partner for 3 little boys, wrestling partner for one wife (LOL), golfing partner of one big boy, well you get the picture.  He leads a very active life and a short recuperation time would be a blessing.  And the canoe trip is two weeks from today.

Aunt Sheilah retires after a 28 year teaching career!

On Monday, May 18, we celebrated the retirement of Aunt Sheilah (as well as Linda Wunderley) at Everybody's in Mound City.  The party was hosted by the Mound City elementary school administration. 

The joint was packed with friends, family and co-workers of Sheilah and Linda.  There was a slide show of each of the ladies and their families.  Showing them over the years in both their personal and professional lives.  I know Aunt Sheilah will be deeply missed.  One of the teachers at the party was telling me she'd tried to convince Sheilah to stay for just a couple more years so one of her young sons could be in Sheilah's class.

If you are ever out with Sheilah, you are bound to notice that she has many former students who come up and visit and fill her in on their lives since they last saw Mrs. Umphenour.  She is truly loved by her students.

Aunt Sheilah said she is planning on taking it easy for awhile and do all those projects she hasn't really had time to pursue and just relax and enjoy herself for awhile.
